EMILY’S STORY When Emily got into her car to drive after drinking with her girlfriends, she never thought her night would end with the flashing lights of a cop car and a DUI. “Never in a million years did I think I would end up in jail,” said Emily, “I knew I was a little bit buzzed. I didn’t think of the consequences.” When she did a field sobriety test, she blew over the limit and was arrested on the spot and taken to jail.
Although Emily chose not to drive while intoxicated for a number of years after her first arrest, she eventually received her second DUI and lost her license for two years. “It was embarrassing to have to tell [my kids' friends'] parents I can’t pick them up; I can’t take my turn driving to the mall.
